Privacy Policy
Effective date:
Intent Note is designed to store your content on your devices and (optionally) your iCloud account. We collect the minimum analytics needed to improve the app—and only if you opt in. We do not sell your data.
Data We Handle
- Notes & Intentions: Stored locally in Core Data. If iCloud sync is enabled, your data is synced via Apple’s CloudKit using your iCloud account. We do not operate our own content servers.
- Widgets: Widgets read a small cache (e.g., selected note text, timestamps) via an App Group container shared with the app. This cache stays on your device/iCloud.
- Calendar: With permission, the app reads your calendar to show an agenda and can create events you request. Event data is accessed via EventKit and remains on your device/iCloud.
- In‑app Calendar (optional): If you prefer not to use Apple Calendar, you can keep a separate calendar inside Intent Note. Those events are stored locally (and in iCloud if sync is enabled) and are not added to Apple Calendar.
- Notifications: The app schedules local notifications you configure (daily summaries, event reminders). No third‑party push providers are used.
- Purchases: Apple’s App Store processes payments. We receive non‑identifying purchase status to unlock features.
- Analytics (opt‑in): If you allow analytics, we use PostHog to collect anonymous usage events with limited metadata (for example, text length or a boolean such as “has tags”). We never send your notes/intention text or calendar contents. Session replay is enabled with masking of images and text inputs. You can turn analytics on/off anytime in Settings.
- Siri/Shortcuts: Currently disabled in the app. No Siri phrases or Shortcuts collect data.

What We Don’t Collect
- No accounts or personal identifiers (we don’t ask for name, email, or phone in the app).
- No advertising identifiers or third‑party ad trackers.
- No content of your notes, intentions, or calendar events is sent to our servers.
Sharing
We do not sell your data. We only share data with Apple services you choose to use (iCloud, App Store purchases). If you enable analytics, events are sent to PostHog for processing on our behalf.
Your Choices & Controls
- Analytics: Toggle on/off in Settings (“Allow Analytics”). Off by default.
- iCloud Sync: Toggle in Settings. If off, data remains only on your device.
- Permissions: Revoke Calendar and Notification access in iOS Settings at any time.
- Data Deletion: Delete local data by removing the app. Manage iCloud data from iOS Settings ▸ Apple ID ▸ iCloud ▸ iCloud Drive/Manage Storage.
